To honor Henry George’s legacy and his significant contributions to advancing the principles of free trade and warning about the dangers of protectionism, this is my annual tribute to one of the greatest trade economists of all time, Henry George!
Yesterday marked what would have been trade economist Henry George’s 183nd birthday he was born on September 2 in Philadelphia in 1839 and he died on October 29, 1897. You can find more great Mencken quotes here. It merely means that the politicians have two ways of milking the taxpayer where they had one before. When a new source of taxation is found it never means, in practice, that the old source is abandoned. What he wants above everything else is safety.ġ7. The one permanent emotion of the inferior man is fear – fear of the unknown, the complex, the inexplicable. Communism, like any other revealed religion, is largely made up of prophecies.ġ6.
